The Bear River is the longest river in North America that does not empty into an ocean. Stretching roughly 350 miles, it begins in the Uinta Mountains of northeastern Utah, loops through Wyoming and Idaho, and then returns to northern Utah where it eventually flows into the Great Salt Lake. This unique path gives the river a rich diversity of landscapes, from alpine forests and mountain valleys to wide agricultural plains and marshlands.
