Utah Summer Extended Family Locations
I've put together a list of great summer extended family photography locations in Utah. Click on each thumbnail to view more photos taken at that location. At the bottom of the gallery, you’ll see a small “back to location list” icon, please note, this returns you to my full summer location list, not the specific extended family list. For easier navigation, it’s best to use your browser’s back arrow instead.
Please Note: As stated in my pricing information “travel fees may apply.” If a photo location has a travel fee it will be noted in the notes at the top of the photo gallery. Most of the images in each location gallery are images taken from afar so that you can see the location. I always photo closeups and 3/4 length images as well, I don’t post those to the location guide because it does not show the surroundings of the actual location.
I suggest picking 2–5 of your favorite locations. Once you share your top choices with me, I’ll help you narrow it down to the best fit. I’ll consider the day of the week, how accessible the location is for your family members, and which location is most central for everyone.
An ideal location for extended family photos has flat terrain, easy access with minimal walking, good lighting, and ample open space. It’s also helpful to pick a place with convenient parking, fewer crowds, and a location that’s centrally located for everyone attending. If you have a location in mind for your extended family portraits that isn’t on my list, feel free to share it with me, we can discuss over on a phone call. It’s also worth asking your family if anyone has access to a beautiful private property. If you're thinking about using someone’s backyard, keep in mind that spots without prominent fences (like chain link or vinyl) work best. The space should also have enough depth so I can step back far enough to fit everyone in the frame without causing lens distortion.

I discovered many of these locations through countless hours spent exploring the Utah region. Please understand that I’m unable to provide details about specific photo locations or hiking routes beyond what’s already shared on this website. I only share the exact locations of my spots with clients who have booked a extended family portrait session with me.
